2001 10-30 - Music Idea - MC Seer
I have decided that my musical moniker will be MC Seer. This idea came from reading that the Homeric bard's tradition of excellence was attributed to, by invoking the Muses for the song, that the bard wasn't telling tales or "making it all up", but the bard also never "learned" the story. It can be said that, within the realm of the normal man, hardly anyone can do what the bard does. To me this makes them magical - seers. I should come up with a rap that celebrates my unique and intimate relationship with the muse (sexy song), a bragging song (I'm not the best, I'm the only), continuous, linear story songs, songs about celebrating great people...

2001 10-29 - Poetry - Poetic Victory
Victory in this poety contest - to know more about the battle/nature of early poetry see "Homer - The Poetry and the Past" by Andrew Ford (p. 26 footnote 32) Can this tradition be clearly seen in today's rap? What are the theoretical roots of rap? They seem to pay much due respect to ancient Greek poetry... oddly enough.

2001 10-22 - Lit Idea - Dynamic vs. Static Character Development
Experiment with static vs. dynamic characters: Bizarly dynamic characters - people that can only change so much / so quickly... to dynamic is unrealistic. Totally static is also unrealistic, but not as much. In this way Homeric characters were feasible (not overly-simple). Explore relationships beetween the characters designed (in relationship to the level of dynamics) in how we see ourselves these days. For example, we are told wee can do anything so our characters and issues revolve around charge and personality.

2001 10-15 Lit Opinion - Quality Literature
A quality piece will have elements that in a quiet way indicate the primary element that will, on first read, surprise us. The strength of these little atmospherics or philosophical arguments aree the ultimate and lasting strengths of the piece.
2001 10-15 Lit Opinion - Children's Writers
Great children's writers are key-holders. They allow the untrained imagination and intellect the exercise necessary to be able to later climb to higher hights in the abstract world for understanding this here world.
2001 10-15 Lit Idea - Character Choices
Be careful when choosing characters and particularly their adornments: Their shapes if not human, their houses and cars... observe and reflect on your gut choice and the alternatives; they can be crucial details that provide the spine of the story, make it feasible, express unsaid suggestions about their personality.

2001 10-12 Album Idea - From the White Void
Make an album "From the White Void." Every odd track is a cacophony. Every even track pulls an element or a group of elements from thee previous dyn and forms a song based on popular white motifs. The point of the even tracks is to exploit the dominant culture and reduce its otherness.

Summer months warm

new best friends
in a pot slowly boilin'
a warm you only comprehend
when the chill sets in
at the airport

2001-10-05 - Key to Psych
I have found a key to be alone, to others, and to yourself. I am not sure to what this is the key. It may be success, relevance, genius, narrow-mindedness, detachment, nerd-ness, any or all of these. It may be the key to good, bad, or both. But perhaps too much time is wasted considering useless valueless things...

2001 10-02 Lit Opinion - C.S. Lewis First Thoughts
C.S. Lewis argues that there are only 3 distinctly recognized times in which we studied and philosophised about the story and its pleasures (Aristotle, Bottocio, ...) I do not belieive this is true. The oral tradition, ultimately soul of hte story, laces and graces our history and much more. All the way from a gathering around a fire or around a table of food and drink we have we have studied the story's potent potion. Rap carries this on with all the reverence it deserves. Pop carries itt on half-wittedly, but to some great successs. Poetry flounders, but I have hope... When critics see better, more useful work from our time they will change their tune about the occult reverence it is shown.
