2001 10-02 Lit Opinion - C.S. Lewis First Thoughts

C.S. Lewis argues that there are only 3 distinctly recognized times in which we studied and philosophised about the story and its pleasures (Aristotle, Bottocio, ...) I do not belieive this is true. The oral tradition, ultimately soul of hte story, laces and graces our history and much more. All the way from a gathering around a fire or around a table of food and drink we have we have studied the story's potent potion. Rap carries this on with all the reverence it deserves. Pop carries itt on half-wittedly, but to some great successs. Poetry flounders, but I have hope... When critics see better, more useful work from our time they will change their tune about the occult reverence it is shown.
